Dr. Karlien Erasmus is a registered senior psychologist in New Zealand (NZPB) and South Africa (HPCSA), and is a full member of the New Zealand Psychological Society (NZPS). She is also an ACC accredited service provider and provide services on Mental Injury Assessments, Psychological Services, Concussion injuries and Pain Management contracts. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Pretoria.
 

Karlien has worked in private practice and medical hospitals for 24+ years and has experience in working with people from diverse cultures.

 

Her interests are:

• Working with adults, young adults, individuals, couples, families, geriatrics and teams.

• Assisting patients and their families with medical related trauma, pre- and post-operative support, coping with chronic illness and degenerative medical diagnoses and to assist management teams. 

• General life-goal setting and positive emotional challenging and growth

• Providing professional supervision to psychologists and other medical professions.

• Issues relating to life, work, relationship challenges, marriage counselling, grief, bereavement, adjustment, depression, stress, anxiety and life-stage challenges

• Using an eclectic and integrated approach to focus on empowering clients and support overall wellbeing.

 

Karlien has been an invited speaker at workshops, conferences and radio shows and regularly publish articles in popular magazines to make Psychological topics more accessible to the general public.

Karlien achieved international certification in classical piano from UNISA and The Royal School of Music (Grade 8 and Piano Performance Certificate) and is a bass guitar player in a band.

Karlien is part of an adventurous family and love exploring, the outdoors, enjoy sailing and hiking with her husband, Johan and two children.
