Kahn's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Psychology (2004) followed by a Master of Social Science in Clinical Psychology (2008) at the esteemed North-West University in South Africa. His professional experience commenced at a psychiatric hospital where he engaged in a spectrum of tasks, from assessing client needs to conducting applied research.
Relocating to New Zealand in 2017 with his family, Kahn joined Counties Manukau DHB as a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Coordinator for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Community Service. He also worked as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Re-centre, a private mental health clinic in Auckland from 2019 to 2023. In these pivotal roles, he provided support, therapeutic interventions, and assessments tailored to the needs of clients and their families within the community.
Since 2017, Kahn has been a registered Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and is affiliated with the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists and is an EMDRNZ member. His earlier registration as a Clinical Psychologist – Independent Practice (2008) with the Health Professions Council of South Africa underscores his extensive professional background.
Currently Kahn is the co-owner of East Auckland Psychology and continues to support the community through his private practice, specializing in assisting adolescents and adults navigating life's challenges. Kahn focuses on areas such as depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, and adjustment. His therapeutic approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and an eclectic blend of techniques tailored to each individual.
Besides his clinical work, Kahn offers supervision to psychologists, counsellors, and other health professionals to enhance their professional practice. Notably, his services do not extend to forensic evaluations or childcare placement.
